Can you send more details re the rubbish, I note there is somewhere we can drop it off, but do we need pre pay bags, and can we also drop off recycling as well ?There is no rubbish collection service at Lake Tarawera. It is helpful but not compulsory to drop the rubbish at the transfer station which is conveniently located as you leave Tarawera on the right, about 500m past the Buried Village. There is recycling available.

Is Wi-Fi available?Yes, you can find the password in the guest information folder at the property.

Are bed linens and towels provided?Yes, linen and towels are provided and the beds will be made up ready for you.

Do you provide toiletries?We provide essentials like [soap, shampoo, and conditioner]. Feel free to bring anything extra you need.

Is there parking available?Yes, there is parking available at all properties although not all properties can facilitate boat/trailer parking, however, we have a secure boat parking area at the lake for $10 a day.

How far is the nearest town/shop?There are shops and takeaway shops at the bottom of Tarawera Road (about 15 minutes drive from Tarawera). The closest supermarket is Woolworths 246 Fenton Street, Rotorua (about 20-25 minutes drive).

Can I swim in the lake?Yes, in the summer the lake can be as high as 23 degrees.

How do I check in?Most of our properties offer [self-check-in with a key lockbox], and full details will be sent before your arrival. If you need assistance, let us know in advance.

Is there heating or air conditioning?[Each property may vary, but most have fireplaces, heat pumps, or electric heaters. Some also have underfloor heating.]

Is there a BBQ available?Yes! Each property has a BBQ, and we provide gas for your stay.

Are pets allowed?Pet friendly houses include The Woolshed, Lakeside Bach and Lakeview Chalet.

Can I bring a boat?Yes! We offer boat parking at some properties, and there’s also off-site boat parking available for $10 per day. Please let us know in advance.

Where are the nearest boat ramps?Boat Shed Bay and Stoney Point are the closest boat launches, just a short drive away.

How close are you to the Black Barn wedding venue?Several of our homes are within a short drive, making them perfect for wedding guests. Let us know if you need recommendations.

What outdoor activities are available?Guests can enjoy lake walks, swimming, boating, fishing, and mountain biking. The Te PÅ«take o Tawa mountain bike hub is 10 minutes away, and the Redwoods Forest is a 15-minute drive.

Can I hire bikes or kayaks?Yes, bike hire is available at the mountain bike hub, and kayak rentals can be arranged locally. Many properties have kayaks provided by the property owners. Check when booking.

Do you allow events or parties?Our properties are best suited for quiet getaways. Small gatherings may be allowed upon prior approval, but large parties are not permitted.

Is smoking allowed?Smoking is not allowed inside any of our homes but is permitted in outdoor areas with proper disposal of cigarette butts.

What should I do in an emergency?For medical or fire emergencies, call 111. Emergency contact numbers and instructions for water/power issues are provided in the welcome guide at each property.
