Tarawera Tipi

Surrounded by native flora and towering ponga trees, this hidden gem is settled directly on Lake Tarawera's edge. The shimmering lake mirrors the changing hues of the sky, while in the distance, the sleeping volcano graces the horizon.

The traditional tipi, styled with authenticity, opens to the outside, allowing you to relax with a view. The handmade bed of lodge pole pine, adorned with gorgeous throws and rugs, adds warmth to the living space. A small indoor kitchen and BBQ are available for your cooking adventures. On the deck are bean bags for stargazing and a smokeless firepit for toasting smores. The bathroom outhouse is only metres away from the tipi via the decked walkway. Perched in an ideal spot overlooking the water, a clawfoot outdoor bath beckons.

Descending a series of steps leads to a private jetty. With temperatures reaching 22 degrees in summer, the lake is perfect for swimming, kayaking (two-person Canadian Canoe provided) and jet skiing.

Tarawera's unique mix of natural beauty, geological intrigue, and cultural heritage makes it an exceptional and cherished area.
