Destination Lake Tarawera

Lake Tarawera and the nearby city of Rotorua are jewels of New Zealand's North Island, offering a unique blend of natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and luxurious experiences for the discerning traveller.

Lake Tarawera is renowned for its stunning, serene waters set against a backdrop of lush, forested hills and the imposing Mount Tarawera. The lake is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering activities such as boating, kayaking, swimming, and trout fishing in crystal-clear waters. The area is also famous for its mountain biking from the new hub "Te Potaka O Tawa" and the geothermal hot springs, particularly the secluded Hot Water Beach which can be accessed using Tarawera's water taxi where natural hot water seeps through the sands—perfect for a relaxing soak in a natural setting. For the adventurous, hiking trails like the Tarawera Trail with breathtaking views and the Tarawera Falls Walk to one of New Zealands most stunning waterfalls, showcasing the region's diverse flora and fauna. The near by Buried Village from the eruption in 1886 is a wealth of local history.

Rotorua, just a short drive from Lake Tarawera, is a vibrant city known for its geothermal wonders and rich Māori culture. Visitors can experience bubbling mud pools, geysers, and steaming vents at sites like Te Puia and Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland. Rotorua is also a hub for cultural experiences, offering opportunities to learn about Māori traditions, arts, and cuisine at cultural centers such as the Tamaki Māori Village.

For those seeking luxury, Rotorua and Lake Tarawera offer upscale accommodations, gourmet dining, and bespoke experiences. World-class spas provide rejuvenating treatments using local geothermal mud and minerals, and fine dining restaurants showcase fresh, local produce. You can visit the famous Redwood Forest and our boutique winery (Volcanic Hills Winery)  who offer tastings of their exquisite medley of New Zealand wine.

Adventurers can indulge in thrilling activities like zip-lining, mountain biking, and white-water rafting, while those seeking a more leisurely pace can enjoy scenic cruises, wildlife tours, and visits to beautifully landscaped gardens.
